A Gentle Evolution

15 June, 2021

When we throw open our doors again on Friday 20th August 2021, returning guests will discover that the hotel has enjoyed a gentle evolution during its enforced 18-month closure.

Along with a brand-new bar, lounge and al fresco dining terrace, The Beaumont's sleek Art Deco interiors have been rethought and refurbished by the leading New York-based designer Thierry Despont and London-based architects Reardon Smith, adding new layers of comfort and luxury.

The areas that have been refashioned or newly created include:

THE GATSBY ROOM

The former bar space at the very heart of the hotel has undergone a dramatic transformation to become a relaxed, intimate all-day dining space, very much inspired by the 1926 origins of the building. With its bespoke walnut-framed sofas and mahogany tub chairs, it's the perfect spot to enjoy afternoon tea to live piano music on the baby grand, quietly read a book, have a light lunch or dinner, or end the day with a post-dinner drink.

Le MAGRITTE BAR

Relocated and redesigned, the hotel's main bar specialises in bourbons, American whiskies and classic cocktails. All-American bad boys from Hemingway and Fitzgerald to Martin and Sinatra would have felt right at home in Le Magritte, inspired by the American bars that took 1920s Paris and London by storm. The seductive, sophisticated interior is entirely lined with European fiddleback cherrywood and centres on the leather-topped ebony bar, behind which hangs the Magritte that gives the room its name.

Furthermore, al fresco drinking and dining is now possible throughout the day and evening on a new, sheltered outdoor Terrace enfolded by lush greenery and facing Brown Hart Gardens.

Meanwhile, The Colony Grill Room has kept its clubby, glamorous Twenties New York atmosphere, but now has striking new murals and artworks, while its much-loved banquettes have been freshly reupholstered in deep red Italian leather.

An entirely new one or two-bedroom Mayfair Suite has been created on the first floor overlooking Brown Hart Gardens. And, finally, the Beaumont Spa benefits from the enlargement of the gymnasium and the addition of an extra treatment room.
