As part of London Craft Week, The Beaumont will be presenting an exhibition of bespoke travel items in the lobby of the hotel.
As a special commission, eight of Britain's finest luxury travel
goods manufacturers have each created a one off bespoke travel item
exclusively for the exhibition, inspired by an earlier, golden era
of travel when bespoke steamer trunks, writing cases and cigar
caddies were the custom.
Each piece was inspired by a friend of fictional hotelier Jimmy Beaumont, who was invented by the hotel's founder, Jeremy King, to inform the ethos and interior design of The Beaumont. Jimmy's eclectic group of friends is to be found adorning the walls of the hotel's restaurant, The Colony Grill.
The exhibition showcases exclusively commissioned modern-day pieces which demonstrate the various skills of cutting leather, embroidering on leather, the process of tanning, embellishing pieces with hand-painted designs and commissioning specialised cases, alongside vintage travel items from the early 20th century.
