The Beaumont has been noted for its art collection since it
opened in 2014 - and not just for the art on its walls: its
original building incorporates a giant sculpture by Sir Antony
Gormley. It adds a striking contemporary note to the building's Art
Deco facade, and also functions as part of a unique suite, called
ROOM.
Art has also been integral to the total refurbishment of the hotel
over the last three years. Our entire art collection has been
refreshed and updated, with each room now boasting its own unique
selection of work from the 1920s to the present day.
Chosen by art consultant Lizzie Collins from Zuleika Gallery, the new
collection includes original prints and artworks from a huge range
of artists, including Alexander Calder, Robert Motherwell, Howard
Hodgkin, Cornelia Parker, Pablo Bronstein, Terry Frost, Patrick
Caulfield, Nicola Green, Anne Desmet and Julian Opie.
At the same time, all the pictures in the public areas have been
rehung and many replaced with paintings from a notable private
collection. Perhaps the most celebrated is Magritte's uncanny Le
MaƮtre d'Ecole, which greets visitors to Le Magritte bar, but the
two new private dining rooms - the Sargent Room and the Munnings
Room - are also named after artists whose work hangs on their
walls.*
*For insurance purposes the most valuable paintings are fine
copies of the originals in the private collection.
